3rd Grade: Mona Lisa Parodies

The third graders were learning a little about Leonardo da Vinci and his very famous portrait of the Mona Lisa. We watched a documentary about the artist on YouTube. Students were also introduced to parodies of the Mona Lisa created by other artists. Then, they made their own Mona Lisa parody. Students were given Mona Lisa's face and hands, glued them on paper, and drew body parts. They added a background to complete their composition. Students wrote their artist statements on the back of their drawings.

My students had so much fun with this project. They were so excited to draw and color their masterpieces. So many giggles!

Learning Goals: I can...

- Tell about Leonardo DA Vinci
- Talk about Mona Lisa
- Explain the meaning of parody
- Draw lightly for easy erasing
- Add color neatly
- Write a story about my Mona Lisa parody

These are some of my favorites!
