The Pre-K were learning about sculptures. Students made a relief sculpture using straws and toothpicks on packing foam. This is a great up-cycling project.
Materials:
Toothpicks
Packing foam
Straws
Neon Paint
First, they painted the foam with neon paint. I added some glue to make the color adhere more to the foam. Students poked toothpicks on the foam the next day and attached straw on each end. This activity was actually easy for them to do. They really enjoyed twisting and bending the straws. Some of them told me that they made playgrounds while others made buildings.
