This week the 5th graders studied complementary colors. We talked about how to locate this colors on the color wheel. These are colors located directly across each other on the color wheel. An example of this color relationships would be, orange and blue or yellow and purple. Complementary colors are my favorite color schemes because they provide the highest level of contrast between colors.
Materials:
9x12" white paper
Ruler
Markers
Objectives: The student will be able to...
1. identify complementary colors
2. locate complementary colors on the color wheel
3. create overlapping circles
1. Students trace medium circles. Shoe overlapping. I limit them to 5 circles so it's not too overwhelming.
2. Draw diagonal lines of 1 inch wide all the way across the paper.
3. Apply colors that complement each other.
