Natural Conservation: Trees and Leaves

We have a guest presenter today in art. Her name is Sarah. She is our naturalist who educates students in Cedar County. She is very knowledgeable about trees and leaves. Since students will be doing a lot of leaves investigation and art projects, it was sweet of her to volunteer her time to come to school. She talked about different trees, products from trees, parts of leaves and so on. Her presentation was very informative.  The students were so engaged and interested in the discussion. I learned so much from her.

Some of the projects we did today were rubbings, tracing, tracing with glue, and drawing. Next week, the 4th grade will start with their clay leaf. It will be so much preparation and work for me, but I think my students will enjoy the process and they are excited to start.
