Chalk Pastels Landscape

Today, the 1st graders got messy smearing pastels for their landscape. We talked about the characteristics of a great landscape picture. We mainly focused on the foreground, middle-ground, and background. This is their first time working with chalk pastels, so I ensured they knew how to handle the material properly.  In the next art class, they will draw their objects in their landscape. I will post the next step soon..

                          They love smudging and smearing chalks. Some of them did another one.
