Two-Views Self-Portrait

Objectives: The students will be able to...

  1. Identify the Picasso portraits that are painted in the Cubist style.
  2. Identify the differences between realistic and abstract Picasso portraits.
  3. Students will practice drawing facial features
  4. to create a picture in the style of Pablo Picasso.

Students conducted research about Pablo Picasso in the computer lab and watched a short biography video. I traced their profile by having them stand up in front of the board with paper them, taped on the board. They drew a frontal view to finish up the portrait. Then, they drew shapes on the picture to break up the image. Oil pastels were used with tempera paint.
