6th Grade: Zentangle Hand

Artwork by Adrienne H. in 6th Grade

Materials: Black sharpies, pens in various colors, pencil, markers and 12"x18" white paper.

Students review different types of lines. They were to create a zentangle hand by drawing repetitive lines and shapes.  First, using pencil, they traced their hand and drew different line patterns in it. Then, they applied colors using pens and markers. Next, they worked on the background. Students planned out their composition by doing a quick sketch showing movements and variety.  It took them about a week to complete this project. The final product is so beautiful with their intricate designs.
