The third graders were learning a little about Leonardo ad Vinci and his very famous portrait of Mona Lisa. We watched a documentary about the artist on YouTube. Students were also introduced to parodies of Mona Lisa created by other artists. Then, they made their own Mona Lisa parody. Students were given Mona Lisa's face and hands, glued them on paper and drew body parts. They added a background to complete their composition. Students wrote their artist statement on the back of their drawing.
My students had so much fun with this project. They were so excited drawing and coloring their masterpieces. So much giggles!
Learning Goals: I can...
- Tell about Leonardo DA Vinci
- tell about Mona Lisa
- Explain the meaning parody
- draw lightly for easy erasing
- add color neatly
- write a story about my Mona Lisa parody
These are some of my favorites!
